I’m not going to lie here, I was quite surprised when I found out we would be taking on another conversation partner in the form of the ITAs this session. Between my job, family, class, and extracurriculars I was feeling overwhelmed. I thought the Skype option was a great compromise for my own mental sanity. Zhong Jun was very quiet at first, it was hard to understand him over the hubbub of everyone meeting the ITAs, and I think he was a bit intimidated by having both me and Jackson vying for his attention. He was willing to take us both on as conversation partners nonetheless, which I thought was a thoughtful decision. I’m excited to learn more about Asian culture. I had never considered teaching in an Asian country, and I think my experience with Zhong Jun will help me make a more informed decision of where I would like to teach.

ReplyDeleteI'm having a really great type Skyping with Zhongjun but his internet connection can be really spotty sometimes! I know what you mean about feeling overwhelmed though, that was why I was also excited about having Skype as an option. We have already had two skype conversations and have planned on our next one being in person! Let me know how things go with you and our ITA :)
