Last night I hung out with my CP from Korea, Dohoun Kim. We went to Five Guys Burgers because he said he was in the mood for some American food (I am not very creative when it comes to "American cuisine"so if anyone has any suggestions that would be awesome :). I was worried Dohoun would want something healthy because he is an Exercise Science major but he said his philosophy on food is that it doesn't matter what you eat as long as you exercise! Burgers are his favorite food! While we were eating, Dohoun told me about his girlfriend and his friends in Korea. He and his girlfriend are still getting used to the long distance thing and have been fighting, but Dohoun doesn't let it bring him down. He asked me about my dating situation, so I told him about my girlfriend and he was very cool about it. I was worried about offending him because Korea is still quite conservative when it comes to LGTBQ issues, but Dohoun is just an awesome person with an open mind. He really wants to meet my girlfriend now, along with all of my other friends. I was so relieved! He told me that he and his group of friends are the "funny guys" back home. One of his friends is even becoming a famous comedian in Korea! Dohoun said he is still trying to work on translating his humor into English, but I think he is absolutely hilarious; he is always cracking jokes! We also talked about movies, music, divorce rates, and LGTBQ rights in Korea. It was a great conversation and I feel like Dohoun and I bonded.

After dinner, we went to go see The Amazing Spiderman. I thought this would be a good movie for Dohoun because he likes action movies and the plot is simple so he wouldn't have trouble following the dialogue. He couldn't believe how many previews there were! He really liked the movie. We compared this movie with the other Spiderman movies and he actually preferred new one. I, on the other hand, preferred the Spiderman movies with Toby McGuire because they were more action-packed. We planned out next meeting and parted ways after the movie. I had a great time with Dohoun!

  1. For American cuisine, maybe try Panera, Po'Boys, Mellow Mushroom, Monk's, Denny's...Gordo's? I know Gordo's isn't American, but it's still really good. Especially their papa rellanas.
