Today I had the opportunity to meet with my tutoring partner Jasem for another tutoring lesson. Today we covered some more grammar rules: prepositions and gerunds/infinitives. The prepositions were a breeze. Since I had written my first lesson plan on this grammar rule I already had an idea of what we were going to do. Jasem was, as always, receptive and excited to become comfortable and confident in his use of prepositions. Next we worked on gerunds and infinitives. For this lesson I used a video that I found on youtube that I found to be extremely well made and effective. I'll link it at the end of this post, and all of you guys should check the lady out because here ESL lessons are incredible! We went through the 15 minute long video and I paused every time I thought a point needed to be reclarified. The video did an extremely thorough job on how to construct and use gerunds and infinitives correctly and I could tell that Jasem wasn't having a tough time understanding the lesson whatsoever. The video covered 5 verbs that, if followed by either a gerund or an infinitive, can change the context completely of a sentence. All in all it seemed as if it was a good lesson and being able to utilize youtube as a tool for teaching Jasem a grammar rule effectively was a neat experience.
As promised, here is the link for the video that I used:

I remember you telling me about this in class yesterday! I have looked at some of the videos and I think I will incorporate them in my next lesson. Thanks!
