My second meeting with my tutoring partner Majdi was our first actual tutoring session. He told me he wanted to work on speaking and listening, so I came prepared with some exercises. These, however, proved unnecessary as Majdi really just wanted some help with his homework, which I was happy to provide. We covered some basic grammar stuff, and I must admit, he stumped me with a who/whom question. That question, and the tutoring session more generally, forced me to think about aspects of the English language that I know intuitively, but haven't really thought about since kindergarden. Overall, I enjoyed the one-on-one tutoring experience, but I'm really curious to see how it compared to teaching a whole class.
