I met with Jaewoo a second time at tea time last week and got to speak with him more than before. He asked me what words I knew in Korean and I froze. I am learning Korean slowly but it's so hard to regurgitate something in another language if there is no question to begin with! Jalissa also joined us and we ended up talking about Irish car bombs (he is old enough to drink) out of nowhere. The discussion started because of an incident of my friend who drank too much the past weekend. She talked about how she drank 14 drinks and the Irish car bomb was the thing that hit her hard. We all laughed, including Jaewoo and he asked what an Irish car bomb was. We were trying to explain how the Baileys curdles when it is dropped in Guinness. It was a little difficult to explain because he did not yet know what the word curdle was. Jalissa did a good job of relating it to a Korean drink that gets lumpy when it's left outside. Through his body language, it seemed like Jaewoo understood what she was trying to explain. I tried explaining it through how you make cheese, which was not effective. I need to think about how to explain things through basic things.
