I visited Ah-Young Kim's class on Tuesday. When I walked in the Listening class she asked me to take a seat and introduce myself. After I introduced myself, she asked the students to introduce themselves to me and then I was to ask them a few questions about themselves. It was a little difficult on the spot to come up with questions. She asked me to come up with tough questions as well since this was a Listening class. So I came up with what I could and it worked out in the end. The students seemed to be a pretty high level. They were engaged in what the teacher was saying. Attendance was taken in the beginning and a video was played continuing the lesson from the day before. I found it very interesting and actually learned something as well. It was on teaching and two theories. The i+1 and Vygotsky's theory which includes the social aspect of learning. The student's seemed to pay a lot of attention, as they were listening questions were asked for every about 20 seconds of video played. The teacher explained the concepts more and asked questions to make sure that the students understood what was being said. I also liked the teacher's attitude and energy while being in the class. She included everyone when asking questions and she made sure that students understood. She ended the lesson with a final question and mention that they would finish the video during the next class.
