I lucked into meeting my second conversation partner, Nimah. I came very early to class one day and decided to wait outside the room. After awhile Nimah approached me complimenting my purse; the compliment turned into a lengthy conversation ranging from topics of religion and politics to Beyonce and makeup. I was very impressed with her conversation skills and found myself genuinely interested in her life and views. Nimah is from Saudi Arabia and is a very devout Muslim. I was cautious as an American ex-Catholic to not offend her, but she presented herself with an openness and kindness that was unexpected and much appreciated. I’m excited to learn more about her and exchange more cultural knowledge with her.
