On Saturday night I decided to meet Wangsuk at a local pub for a drink. It was a good atmosphere for conversation. Wangsuk was bringing a friend so I figured I would invite one of my friends from Panama. The diverse group made for some really interesting conversation. Everything from politics to food was discussed. I learned that in Seoul, people don’t go out to eat as much as I thought. I also learned that South Korea has a population of around 50 million which was shocking for such a small country. My friend asked about the weather and Wangsuk said that it is much like New York. Wangsuk told me that he traveled to Europe for 2 months and went to almost every country in western Europe. It sounded like a very fun trip. He also told me that he has friends in the Philippines and he goes to visit them. He said the exchange rate benefits him and that he loves the food. Wangsuk’s friend, Lee, is also from South Korea and he is studying finance at FSU. After leaving the pub, we stopped to grab something quick to eat. Since Wangsuk and Lee live relatively close to me, we all decided to walk home together. I look forward to more of these meetings with Wangsuk as this one was very interesting and informative about his culture.
