During class yesterday evening, we all met up with our International Teaching Assistants. My partner's name is Shuying Yang from China, the kindest person I think I have ever met. Shuying works in the medical lab on campus from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. testing different types of pharmaceutical drugs. She was very shy at first, but when we started talking about television programs she lit up! She just finished watching Desperate Housewives and is now watching The Big Bang Theory which are two shows I can definitely talk with her about. Shuying was telling me that she doesn't have many friends here so watching television is entertaining and also helps her with understanding English. I told her about the site Netflix where you can watch all of the television shows you want! She was very excited about this. Shuying and I decided that we are going to go get coffee, brunch, and hang out at Lake Ella this weekend if the weather is nice. Shuying was ecstatic about making a new friend and having plans for the weekend and I was too. I can't wait to talk with her more about her family and home back in China as well as her thoughts on our culture. I can tell Shuying and I are going to have a lot of fun together.
