Yesterday afternoon I met my first conversation partner, Dohaun Kim, in the CIES at Tea Time. Dohaun is from Korea and is here at FSU to study Exercise Science. I was not surprised hearing this because of Dohaun's muscles and towering height. He and I had a great time getting to know each other. Dohaun has only been in the states for ten days but is so positive and excited about, well, everything! I was telling Dohaun about my plan to teach English abroad and he kept telling me that Korea is the best place to teach in the world! He was quite convincing so I may do some more research on teaching opportunities there. Dohaun has also lived in Japan in London to visit friends and family and to learn English. I have lived in London as well, so we compared our experiences. After discussing our families, our hobbies, our conversation led to what any great conversation leads to: food. Dohaun and I decided that we are going to go get Korean food this weekend and anyone who would like to join with their conversation partner is welcome to come! Dohaun also wants to go to the gym and explore Tallahassee with me. I look forward to learning more about Dohaun, introducing him to different aspects of our culture, and having fun!
