This was my first meeting with my tutoring partner Talal. Talal is also from Kuwait and is a very nice guy. Since this was my first session with Talal, we spent some time getting to know each other. Talal has only been in the country for a few months but said his speaking ability has drastically increased since he got here. Talal said that he needs to work on his vocabulary so I decided that a good first day would to just go through a visual dictionary and have him write down terms that he did not know. We focused on vocabulary that was relevant to his every day life and some that was relevant to his interests. I would go through the pictures and ask if he could identify them. The most interesting section was the grocery one. Talal learned a lot and was very excited to be able to ask some of the questions that he has always wondered how to ask at the grocery store. We also went through the soccer section and Talal learned some important words related to the sport. Talal was very happy with our session and even sent me a text after we had met thanking me again.
