Yesterday I met both of my conversation partners, one was from Saudi Arabia and the other is from South Korea. Minsuk reminded me a lot of my brother actually, in the fact that he's about the same height, build, age, and even in the fact that they both got married last month. Minsuk and I got to talk more because my other partner Rayan had to leave early in order to pay his rent, but we all managed to talk about sports and the different food from each of our cultures. No surprise in us all agreeing that American food is extremely greasy. Rayan said that in Saudi Arabia they use a lot of spices and slow cook a lot of meals if they are having company, but if they are in a rush, there are still quite a few recipes that are both tasty and easy to fix. Minsuk listed a few famous Korean dishes and asked if I had heard or tried any of them, and when I said I hadn't, he got pretty excited and mentioned that some night he and his wife would have me over for dinner. So now I'm trying to think of an American dish that I can exchange with his family that won't disgrace America too much by being greasy or distasteful. I was thinking of a ham and macaroni casserole that my family has had, but I'm not sure if it would be unusual for them...
