Jackson TP9

Monday I met with Fei at a restaurant called Siam Sushi (it is right next to the Publix on Monroe and Tharpe). This lesson was admittedly not as intensive as some of our past ones, the reason being that I have been sick and had a pretty terrible head ache the entire time. We spent a lot of time talking about the TEFL course and what Fei still had to do in order to get her certification. She has fallen a little bit behind on all of her blogging but I promised I would do whatever I could to help her, which is why she is going to dinner with me and my Chinese ITA on Friday. Next we went over the lesson plan that I had prepared for her - the differences between past tense, present tense, and future tense. The conjugations were giving her a little bit of trouble, especially because of the numerous irregularities in between verbs. Other than that though, she already had a pretty good idea of when to use each. Lastly, we covered her lesson plan that was due on Tuesday (listening) and more-or-less just edited it and worked on some changes. Instead of me just going over it and making the corrections though, we went over it together and I was surprised to see how aware of her own mistakes Fei was. I told her that it is very important to proof-read her work, especially if it is for something important like an assignment or something she must submit for work. As the session winds down and the amount of time I have tutoring Fei expires I realize how close of a bond we have developed from our one on one sessions. I can tell that even after this class, we will remain close friends. Especially if we hold each other responsible for waking up on Saturday mornings and going to cycle!
